Be an informed voter! The purpose of this website is to accurately provide, in a bipartisan manner, information about Congressman Chet Edwards and his overall performance in representing the interests of Texas District 17 in the U.S. Congress. The objectives of the information include:
- Who likes the way he votes, and who does he vote like
- Some major issues on which his votes reflect his values, performance and judgments along with other members of congress.
The visitor is encouraged to be educated about Representative Edwards’ votes and how those votes warrant his continuation in office representing District 17 voters.
WHO LIKES THE WAY HE VOTES AND WHO DOES HE VOTE LIKE
Many special interest groups -- liberal and conservative – provide report cards on the members of congress throughout their careers, grading their votes in terms of the core values of the special interest group. The mission statement of each group is defined so that its classification as “liberal” or “conservative” can be judged by the visitor. A link to the site of each constituency group (or the scoring source) is provided following the mission statement. We appreciate the special effort of those groups that put an enormous amount of research resources into these scoring compilations. This site is assembled by individuals unaffiliated with either campaign.
The scores/ratings are for Rep. Edwards, neighboring District Representatives, prominent Texans, and leading Democrats and Republicans in congress.* The representations are presented as a grade (A – F) or a percent (%) of the time the individual voted for the positions supported by the special interest group. (Click the Summary tab for consolidated side-by-side comparisons.)
